We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Project Lead based out of Calgary, AB.

This is a one-year contract position with the possibility of extension.

  • A Project Lead supports our clients by developing and managing services and support to meet their unique needs and objectives.

    They play an integral role in building and maintaining positive and trusting relationships with our clients and ensuring delivery of high-quality work.

  • Qualifications

    • Graduate or post-graduate degree social or biophysical sciences, public policy, planning, or law. Applicants with commensurate skills or experience with Section 35 rights, the duty to consult and accommodate, research, impact assessments, and regulatory, will also be considered.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of Section 35 rights and the duty to consult and accommodate.

    • At Least 3 years of related experience. Including, experience working with Indigenous peoples and their governments.

    • Hold a valid drivers’ license.

  • responsibilities

    • Develop funding proposals on behalf of Calliou Group or our clients.

    • Work collaboratively with clients to identify project goals, objectives, and scope.

    • Create and manage project workplans and budgets.

    • Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.

    • Communicate with team members and third parties to convey ideas, expectations, and information to support excellence in client deliverables.

    • Delegation of tasks to junior staff members. Related training and mentorship as required.

    • Report to clients on topics and themes to provide updates and seek direction.

    • File management including managing contract agreements (internal and external), project materials, sensitive or confidential information, and reporting forms.

    • Demonstrate and apply knowledge relating to Section 35 rights, duty to consult and accommodate, impact assessments and regulatory processes, reconciliation, engagement, and other topics related to assigned work tasks and projects.

    • Remain apprised on any changes to 1) legal precedents, 2) regulatory processes (federal, provincial, and territorial), 3) legislation and policy, and 4) best practices related to the Section 35 Rights and interests of Indigenous peoples.

    • Collaborate with Calliou Group team in strategizing on projects and new approaches to our work.

    • Experience delegating tasks and mentoring junior employees.

    • Understanding of provincial, territorial, and federal regulatory processes.

    • Understanding of Impact Assessment or Environmental Assessment studies.

    • Adaptable, able to work in a fast-paced environment.

    • Strong research skills.

    • A willingness to learn.

    • Able to travel within Canada as required, sometimes with limited notice.
